Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori

(Celebrating our language)

16 / 10 / 2024

As a Kaupapa Māori organisation, our work is deeply rooted in Te Ao Māori, guiding our practices, strategies and the way in which we engage with our whānau and community. Te wiki o Te Reo Māori offers us opportunities for learning, recognition, and exploration. It serves as a reminder that every day presents a chance to speak and embrace te reo Māori. The phrase “Toitū te reo!” reflects our dedication to preserving and nurturing the Māori language. This year's theme, “Ake ake ake – A Forever Language,” emphasizes that through our work and daily activities, we are expanding our knowledge of our values and language to share with our whānau and communities.

In addition to daily celebrations and learning throughout the organisation and community, we launched our inaugural “Pepeha Cam,” encouraging our colleagues to step beyond their comfort zones and share their whakapapa on camera for internal viewing and social media. We extend a heartfelt thank you to those who bravely showcased their unique stories. A special mention to our “flash guy” Kare who showed off a bit with the addition of props, maps, and images during his performance.

Ngā mihi nui to everyone who participated and contributed. Let’s keep this momentum alive—every day is an opportunity to kōrero te reo Māori!
