(COMMUNITY CONNECTION)

Whenever our people come together with openness and a willingness to share, real connections are formed thats what Honoka is all about.

At its heart, Honoka is a space built on Kaupapa Māori, whanaungatanga, and manaakitanga, values that encourage meaningful conversations, shared learning, and a sense of belonging. It’s a safe & inclusive gathering where people can engage, listen, and contribute in a way that feels natural and supportive.

There’s no pressure to be anything other than yourself. Whether you’re new to our space or looking to deepen your understanding, Honoka is a space where everyone is valued. The goal is simple: to create a welcoming environment where people can connect, share, and grow together.

For our very own Kaitautoko and Honoka group facilitator Shanna, the impact of this space is clear:

"It's been really great sharing space with our whaiora. One of the coolest things I've personally seen happen is the friendships they've built with each other through coming to group. Quite often, you'll see them sticking around to play cards and hang out after we've finished up, and I think that's beautiful. By opening up space for them, they have felt empowered to open it up for others, and that's what its really about."

If you’re looking for a place to kōrero, meet like-minded people, or simply be part of a supportive community, Honoka is here for you.

The Honoka rōpū happens every Wednesday from 10:30 til 11:30 and is part of our Whai Rawatia te Oranga open group programme.
