RĀTĀ FOUNDATION: Faces Of Funding
19 / 02 / 2025
Rātā Foundation is the South Island’s most significant long-term community investor, dedicated to creating a world where nothing gets in the way of people enjoying full and healthy lives.
EQUITABLE AND SUSTAINABLE
Rātā strives for an equitable and sustainable society under the korowai of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, supporting those in need now, while building a better future where people are empowered to thrive. Through smart investment management, strategic and proactive community investment, and strategic partnerships, they walk alongside the community to uncover and support opportunities that maximise social impact.
RELATIONSHIPS AND PARTNERSHIPS.
Rātā believes in respectful relationships and partnerships with everyone we work with and those they support, including Māori, Pasifika, any other ethnic group, young people and the elderly, people with disability, people with health or mental health needs, or gender-diverse people. He Waka Tapu is grateful to the Rātā Foundation for the partnership and their generous funding. This funding supported He Waka Tapu in the development of our affordable housing project, providing essential services and support to our whānau and community.

RĀTĀ FOUNDATION SUPPORT OF AHIKĀ
AHIKĀ
For over 20 years, He Waka Tapu and Rātā Foundation have enjoyed a strong partnership, grounded in a shared commitment to empowering communities and helping individuals flourish. We are grateful to have received a generous grant from Rātā last year in support our Ahikā affordable housing initiative. This funding has made a significant difference, allowing us to purchase essential whiteware, fittings, and furniture, ensuring our tenants have everything they need when moving into their new homes.
Our collaboration with Rātā, along with other like-minded funders and partners, is dedicated to achieving common goals that support whānau and communities in need. We are truly honoured to be featured in Rātā's "Faces of Funding" series, which highlights the diverse range of community projects they back. The success of this initiative would not have been possible without our partnerships with Cook Brothers Construction, Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga - Ministry of housing and Urban Development (HUD), Rātā Foundation, Westpac NZ and Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment, demonstrating the power of working together to create meaningful change. Together, we’re committed to fostering thriving communities for all.
